Legal Notifications: Dr. Heiberger has been sued 0 times in 28 years of medical service. Due to this being a one-person, completely independent telemedicine service, the cost of malpractice insurance is prohibitive. Therefore, Dr. Heiberger carries no malpractice insurance; Florida requires the following to be stated: “Under Florida law, physicians are generally required to carry medical malpractice insurance or otherwise demonstrate financial responsibility to cover potential claims for medical malpractice. YOUR DOCTOR HAS DECIDED NOT TO CARRY MEDICAL MALPRACTICE INSURANCE. This is permitted under Florida law subject to certain conditions. Florida law imposes penalties against noninsured physicians who fail to satisfy adverse judgments arising from claims of medical malpractice. This notice is provided pursuant to Florida law.” Patients must also be aware of their rights to complain: Texas law dictates that patients know their rights, and they may submit complaints to the Texas Medical Board, 333 Guadalupe, Tower 3, Suite 610, PO Box 2018 MC-263, Austin TX 78768, or call 1-800-201-9353. Florida patients may submit complaints to the Florida Medical Board online on its ‘Enforcement Website’ or the Florida Dept of Health, 4052 Bald Cypress Way, Bin C75, Tallahassee, FL 32399.
